Reddog's Favorite Hot Spots
Port Weller
We follow the King Salmon on their yearly migration starting on the south shore in Port Weller from late April until the end of May. The Niagara Bar produces some of the best Lake trout fishing with sizes in the 18 to 20lbs. range.
Toronto Island
We then relocate back to the north shore as the King salmon migrate to the Scarborough Bluffs and Toronto Island drop off structure where they gorge on the schools of abundant bait fish.
Oshawa/ Port Darlington
Oshawa to Port Darlington has been a very consistent area for mature King salmon from late June to the middle of July. The massive water out flow from Darlington Nuclear plant draws the Kings to this area providing some of the very best King fishing of the season.
Our close network of anglers from various ports on Lake Ontario work in conjunction to keep us apprised of the best hot spots.
The Blue Zone
As late August rolls around, the King salmon head to their natal streams for spawning. We then concentrate our efforts in the Blue Zone, usually 10+ miles out, primarily fishing for Steelhead trout and Coho salmon. The action can be fast and furious when we hit a large school. We also catch quite a few large King salmon in the Blue on their migration to natal streams.
